About MIME Mappings

Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) is a standard format for sending messages and attachments. Most e-mail programs use the MIME format to associate formats with the applications that should be used to view files having those formats.

The MIME Mappings table is used to associate MIME content types with file name extensions. When sending an e-mail that contains an attachment with a particular filename extension, you can use the table to tag the attachment with the appropriate mime type. Likewise, you can take attachments from the message and use the MIME content type to determine the appropriate filename extension.

In most cases, you need not change the default MIME mappings for KANA Response. If you need to add or change a mapping, use the Mail Receiver window in System Administration.
