Fine-Tuning Reports

Most types of reports let you select detailed criteria by clicking the Fields option in the Find Criteria section of the Reports window. For some reports, such as Message Volume, you can select a date range, such as today, last week, this month, or this year.

For some reports, such as Message Review, you can select very specific information using a particular subject value that you enter, such as a product name or the word "complaint" in the subject line.

When running reports by the week, you can choose to show any day of the week as the beginning of the week. For example, you could run a Message Volume report in which Sunday appears as the first day of the week. To change the beginning day of the week in your reports, select a day from the Start of Week drop-down list in the Reporter area of System Administration. You can change the starting day of the weekly reports.

When you run a report with a custom find, the report heading shows the Find Criteria you chose and the actual dates for which information was found. For example, let us assume it is November and you would like to find data on messages sent this month. Because messages were only actually sent from the 2nd through the 26th of the month, the report displays the following heading:

Find This Month

Dates Found: 11/2/00 through 11/26/00

When running department reports, you must select a particular department. If you do not select a department, the report will be run for your home department. The selected department "(Top Level)" data will be displayed first, followed by data from all subdepartments within the selected department.

Tip:Running some reports, such as an Action Log report for "This Year," may take a long time and may overtax the database resources. Consider running or scheduling the following types of reports after hours and notifying other users and administrators.
