Depending on the parameters set for your Response Secure Messaging system, Secure messages may need to be handled in specific ways.
If the message is secure and marked To Sender Only:
The message must have the original sender as a recipient.
The entire Recipients area is blocked off. E-mail addresses cannot be added by free form or through the address book.
Categories are applied as appropriate. All additional recipients, other than the original sender, will be filtered out.
In addition to the above, if the outgoing message goes back out through the same trusted channel, you cannot change the outgoing "from address" mailbox.
If the message is a follow-up, it will use the same mailbox as the message for which it is a follow-up rather than using the default mailbox for originations. This ensures that the message is sent on the same address domain or mailbox group.
Note: If the message is secure (either reply or follow-up) and the parameter "Messages must be returned to the original sender on the same channel” is set, an alert appears if the user tries to change the outgoing "from address” to an invalid mailbox.
Note: Incoming Secure Messages will carry the Secure Lock icon in the secure column of your Inbox.
If the secure message is an origination:
Originations are treated as insecure messages. You can enter more than one recipient on the same domain (mailbox group), even if the domain is secure.
Whenever a new recipient is added to the Available Recipients list, a check is performed to make sure it is of the same mailbox group (domain) as the outgoing "from” mailbox. This action takes place before the message is sent.
Other considerations are:
Free form email addresses are assumed to be of the same mailbox group (domain) as the outgoing "from" addresses and appear as such in the "Recipients" area.
Note: Messages received from a SOAP mailbox are displayed with the mailbox group in parenthesis:
Display Name <address> (mailbox Group)
