Reports and Roles

The visibility of reports is restricted by roles and by departments. Not all delivered reports are accessible by all KANA users; a user will only see certain folders and reports types based on role-based permissions. These are assigned in Content Administration, and set by your Administrator.

There are four defined roles for a user. They are:

Note for Custom Reports

The Custom Reports folder receives special treatment. This folder is populated at runtime, by examining the file system on the Reports web server, so that any reports built by a KANA Response user are accessible by that user. The Custom Reports folder is actually the amalgamation of four folders in the file system. These folders appear on your Reports Server as:

The PARTITIONNAME folder uses the name of the partition; usually this is "default."

Reports in all four of these folders are visible to a KANA Administrator in the ".../Custom Reports - KANA Admin" folder, while a user assigned the Agent role can view only those reports found in the ".../Custom Reports - Agent" folder.
